Show from the Week of 7/16/2006

Guy Gerber
Guy Gerber's Biography: The man responsible for those end of night moments on some of the most respected dance floors across the globe over the last twelve months was more than likely Guy Gerber. As cited in Mixmag last summer, his extremely large and universally embraced single on Bedrock Records Stoppage Time became the stand out anthem of the year at the likes of Cocoon at Amnesia, and Dc10 in Ibiza along with Secretsundaze in London. The single has surpassed the 5-digit mark in sales and continues to shift by the truckload, while its appearance on numerous compilations from artists as diverse as BPitchs Kiki to Wally Lopes and Dave Seaman; its safe to say that if anyone didnt quite know who Guy Gerber was, they do now. Further light will be shone on Guy with a slew of new singles. Firstly, This is Balagan already described by the don of Techno, Sven Vath as the tune of the 2006 Ibiza summer season. Then again, Sven might be slightly biased considering he has just signed it to his Cocoon label. This is Balagan is similar to Stoppage Time as a dance floor end of night anthem that has a catchy as can be hook that just continues to build and build, and no doubt devastating a club near you in the hands of a select few djs. The summer will also see releases on John Digweeds Bedrock and Satoshi Tomeiis SAW imprints respectively, not to mention Guys own Supplemental Facts label will be born with further singles, many of which have a good shot of nomination for tune of 2006 come Christmas time. Guys musical routes can be traced back to when he was 16. A member of his native Israels Under 16s national football team, he started to play guitar. Very quickly his love of football was replaced by an obsession with music. While listening to bands like "Joy Division", "My Bloody Valentine", "Sonic Youth", "Soft Cell", and "The Beach Boys" Guy established a unique taste for music that has formed his musical base from which his unique sound of bittersweet harmonies, natural mixture of strong and deep grooves, and futuristic bass lines have come. Awards in his homeland have come thick and fast with him collecting The Best Israeli Electronic Artist" award for 2003 by the Israeli Music Association and an award for "Best Electronic Producer" by Israel's leading dance music magazine & MTV contest. In 2005 Guy was voted Israel's "Best Export Artist. Dating back to Guys very first production release, Kennys Back on Whoop! Records in 2002, all of Guys releases have received strong acclaim from across the musical spectrum with his name becoming a fixture on compilations for Renaissance, Global Underground and Cocoon. A check through his discography shows a variety of labels such as King Street, Kinky Vinyl, Alternative Route, and Bedrock displaying his versatility and musicality. Guys wide variety of projects also includes editing and composing music for contemporary dance arts. He managed to catch the eye and collaborate with Ohad Naharin (who is considered to be one of the most important choreographer in the last 3 decades) to compose music to his last act: Playback, and also did the sound design for the work Love by Sharon Eyal performed by the "Bat Sheva" dance group. But the best is yet to come... "Supplement Facts Records", Guy's own label is set for launching in the beginning of 2006, his long awaited promising album that will show guy's more musical side and he still continues to tour the world with his unique DJ/Live Act Performing Live With ABLETON: Creating a digital live experience is Guy's biggest project. With future technology that we have now a days "Ableton Live" allows many functions that can be used on a live set: to sample, loop, and mix different elements which all showing Guy's ability to create new tracks with his unique sound through digital technology. Guy will truly be revolutionizing the live DJ performance and take the crowd to a higher level. To understand the mysterious world of Guy, you need to see his hypnotic live show, as he draws the masses dancing to deeper depths and glorious highs
