Show from the Week of 7/14/2008
My wife and children, music, cars, mod clothing and sometimes I’m drawn to small dogs.
Hates? People who hold up the fast lane on the motorways, people who don’t clean up after dogs, mushrooms.
Eats? Most things apart from mushrooms. I always like to try food all over the world that’s specific to the town or village that I’m staying in. I’m looking forward the WMC in Miami ‘cos I get to eat lots of fantastic Cuban food. Mmmm...can’t that beat rice & beans.
Reads? Factual stuff. I read a lot of biographies and autobiographies usually people I admire like Keith Haring, James Brown, Paul Weller. I don’t buy fictional books but I did pinch my wife’s copy of “The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time” which was brilliant and I think I may have even cried a bit while reading it so maybe I should broaden my horizons and read more fiction.
Chills out to? If our kids are around then it’s usually the classics such as “Jake The Peg” by Rolf Harris or “The Laughing Police Man” or for a more grown up soundtrack it would be some old soul or funk.
Favourite gig? Lots recently. Club 287 in Paris, Wild Fruit in Brighton, Kiss Da Funk in Leeds.
Worst gig? There were a couple in Italy many years ago. Having to follow a DJ who finished with the Prodigy’s “Firestarter” was funny...within about 15 minutes I had cleared the club and at another event I had to go .. a cabaret act...it was a disaster!
Best career moment? Signing my single ‘Last Night A DJ Saved My Life” onto Apollo was a pretty big step. It was the first time that I’d had a record which had been signed to a major with a video budget etc. I was really excited about it!
Prefered place - studio or dj box? Both. They both feed each other but I would say that I am a DJ first and foremo
